What these terms cover

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and Carpet Cleaning Wizards ("we", "us", "our") for two things: your use of our website at carpetcleaningwizards.com (the "Site"), and the cleaning and water extraction services we perform at your home or business (the "Services"). They are written in plain English so that a homeowner can read them without a lawyer. Where a word has a special meaning we define it where it first appears.

Nothing in these Terms takes away any right you have under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act or any other New Jersey or federal consumer protection law, and nothing in these Terms limits our responsibility in any way that New Jersey law does not allow. If any sentence in these Terms conflicts with your rights under New Jersey law, New Jersey law wins and the rest of these Terms still apply.

By requesting an estimate, booking a visit, or letting us do work, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not book with us.

About us

Carpet Cleaning Wizards is an owner operated, veteran owned and Latino owned business based in Union County, New Jersey. We clean carpet, area and oriental rugs, upholstery, mattresses, and tile and grout, and we extract water and dry carpet and contents after a leak or flood, in homes and businesses in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties. All work is done at your location. We have no storefront and we sell no goods online.

We are a cleaning service. We are not a home improvement contractor, and we do not perform construction, structural repair, drywall, flooring installation, plumbing, electrical work or mold remediation. If your situation needs any of those, we will tell you and you will need to hire the right licensed or registered trade.

Estimates

How estimates work

You can request an estimate by phone at (908) 545-9387 or through the estimate form on the Site, and you can ask for a visit on a particular day through the Book a visit form on the Site, which a person will call you to confirm. The chat helper on the Site answers common questions but cannot take a request; nothing typed into it reaches us. We aim to send a written estimate the same day for requests received during the day, and by the next business day for requests received late or overnight. An estimate is our best assessment of the price based on what you tell us and any photos you send. It is free and you are under no obligation.

What the price includes

The estimate states the rooms, items or surfaces to be cleaned, the method, and the price. The price includes labor, equipment and cleaning products. It does not include work you add on the day, which we will price and confirm with you before we do it.

Sales tax

New Jersey charges sales tax on carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning services and on most other cleaning services we provide. Prices we quote are before sales tax. New Jersey sales tax will be added to your invoice at the rate in effect on the date of service where the service is taxable. If a service we perform is exempt from tax we will not charge tax on it.

When the price can change

The estimate is based on what we can see and what you tell us. If, on arrival, the job is different from what was described (for example more rooms, a different fiber, heavy pet contamination that reaches the padding, or furniture that must be moved), we will explain the difference and give you a revised price before we start. You can decline the revised price and we will leave with no charge for the visit. If we sell you additional work at your home for 25 dollars or more, whether a revised price or an add on, federal law gives you three business days to cancel that additional work, and we will give you a written notice explaining how.

Booking and access

Scheduling

We work by appointment, any hour of the day, including evenings and weekends when arranged. When you book we will confirm the date and an arrival window by phone, text (with your consent) or email.

Cancellations and rescheduling

You can cancel or reschedule at no charge by calling or texting us at least 24 hours before the appointment. If you cancel with less notice, or we arrive and cannot get in, we may charge a trip fee to cover the wasted visit. We will tell you the amount of any trip fee when you book, and we will never charge one we did not tell you about in advance. If we have to cancel, we will tell you as early as we can, offer the next available time, and charge nothing for the missed appointment.

What we need from you on the day

So that we can do the job safely and well, please:

  • Be present, or have an adult over 18 present, to let us in and to walk through the areas with us at the start and end.
  • Tell us about anything we should know before we start: previous cleaning or treatments, stains and their cause, pet accidents, loose seams, delaminating backing, water damage, fragile or antique rugs, and any allergies or health conditions in the household that we should keep in mind when choosing products.
  • Move small and fragile items (lamps, plants, ornaments, electronics, papers) out of the rooms to be cleaned. We move ordinary furniture such as sofas and chairs as part of the job unless the estimate says otherwise, and we place protective tabs under furniture legs. We do not move pianos, large wall units, beds with electronics, aquariums, or anything containing breakables.
  • Keep pets and children out of the rooms being cleaned while we work and until the carpet is dry enough to walk on.
  • Provide access to water and electricity, which our equipment uses.
  • Provide parking for our van as close to the entrance as reasonably possible.

The work

Our methods

We clean carpet by hot water extraction, which pulls dirt up and out of the fiber. We clean upholstery and mattresses with lower moisture methods suited to the fabric. We dye test rugs before washing them. We clean tile and grout with a pressurized rinse and extraction. We choose the method and products for each surface and we will explain what we are doing if you ask.

Products

We use cleaning products we have selected because they are effective and because they are formulated to be safe for use around people and pets when applied as directed and allowed to dry. We keep the manufacturer's safety data sheet for every product on the van and will show it to you on request. If you or someone in your household has a sensitivity or allergy, tell us before we start and we will select products accordingly or advise you if we cannot.

Drying times

Carpet cleaned by hot water extraction is normally dry enough to walk on in socks within about two hours and fully dry within the same day. Upholstery usually dries in four to eight hours. Drying takes longer with thick pile, cold or humid weather, and closed rooms. We will tell you before we leave which rooms to stay off and for how long. If you need a room back in use by a set time, tell us when you book and we can bring air movers. These times are our honest typical experience, not a guarantee, because your home's conditions affect them.

What cleaning can and cannot do

Cleaning removes soil and many stains. It cannot reverse wear, restore crushed or matted pile, remove bleach spots or dye loss, repair damage from previous cleaning or sun fading, or lift stains that have permanently bonded to the fiber. Some pet urine that has soaked into the padding or subfloor can be reduced but not fully removed without replacing the padding. We will tell you at the walk through if we think a result cannot be guaranteed, and we will not charge you for a stain treatment we do not believe will work.

Pre existing conditions

We are not responsible for conditions that existed before we arrived, including loose seams, worn backing, delamination, shrinkage in older wool or jute backed carpet caused by earlier over wetting, color bleeding in rugs that fail a dye test, damage from previous cleaners or treatments, or subfloor and padding damage. We will point out anything we notice at the start and note it on the job record.

Water damage work

Our water damage service consists of extracting standing water, drying carpet, padding and contents with air movers and dehumidifiers, and cleaning and deodorizing what can be saved. It does not include locating or fixing the source of the water, structural drying inside walls, removing or replacing building materials, or mold testing or remediation. We will tell you if we see something that needs another trade or your insurer's attention, but we are not an insurance adjuster and we cannot tell you what your policy covers. If you intend to make an insurance claim, take photos before we start and tell your insurer promptly.

Payment

Payment is due when the work is finished on the day of service unless we agreed otherwise in writing. We accept the payment methods stated on your estimate. Card payments are taken by a card reader whose processor handles your card details; we never store full card numbers. We do not take payments through the Site. If an invoice is not paid when due we may recover the reasonable costs of collecting it that a New Jersey court awards.

If you are not satisfied

If you are not happy with a result, tell us within seven days of the service. If the problem is something our cleaning can address, we will come back and re treat the area at no charge. If the problem is a permanent condition we warned you about at the walk through, a re clean will not change it, and we will say so honestly. This promise is in addition to, not instead of, any rights you have under New Jersey law.

Our responsibility to you

We carry liability insurance and we will provide a certificate of insurance on request. If we damage your property through our own carelessness, we will repair it or pay for its repair or replacement. Tell us about any damage you believe we caused as soon as you notice it and within seven days of the service so that we can inspect it while the cause can still be established. Telling us later does not take away any claim you have under New Jersey law; it only makes the cause harder to establish.

We are not responsible for the pre existing conditions described above, for damage caused by information you did not give us when asked, or for items you did not remove from the rooms after we asked you to. We are responsible for the losses New Jersey law makes us responsible for, and we do not try to limit that.

Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, the New Jersey Truth in Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act, or any other law that gives you rights that cannot be waived.

Using the Site

What the Site is for

The Site describes our Services, lets you request an estimate, and gives general information about caring for carpet, rugs, upholstery and tile. The information is offered in good faith from our own experience and is not a guarantee of any result in your home. Always test any cleaning method on an inconspicuous spot first.

Content and trademarks

The text, photos, logo and design of the Site belong to us or are used with permission. Photos of customers' homes appear with those customers' permission. You may view and print pages for your own use in dealing with us. You may not copy our photos or text for another business, present them as your own, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Acceptable use

Please do not use the estimate form or chat to send spam, abusive messages, or content that belongs to someone else; do not try to interfere with the Site or its hosting; and do not upload photos of people, documents or anything you do not have the right to share. We may block traffic that abuses the Site.

Reviews and photos you send us

If you send us a review, a comment or a photo and tell us we may use it, you give us permission to publish it on the Site, on our social media pages and in our advertising, with your first name and town only, until you tell us to stop. You can withdraw that permission at any time. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle gallery photos.

We want everyone to be able to use the Site. Our Accessibility page explains the standard we work to and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

Text messages and calls

We contact you about your estimate and appointment by the method you chose. We send text messages only with your express consent and marketing texts only with your separate express written consent. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. The full program terms, including message frequency and how to get help, are on our SMS and Call Consent page.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who sees it and how long we keep it. It is part of these Terms.

Disputes

These Terms and any dispute about our Services are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. If we have a disagreement, we ask that you contact us first so that we can try to fix it. If we cannot resolve it, either of us may bring a claim in the Superior Court of New Jersey, including its Small Claims Section, in the county where the work was done. These Terms do not require you to arbitrate, do not stop you from joining with other customers in a claim, and do not shorten the time New Jersey law gives you to bring a claim.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version in effect on the day you book applies to that job. When we change these Terms we change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
