How the written estimate works.
One price, in writing, for the property you described. It is agreed before a machine is switched on.
Requests sent during the day are answered within a couple of hours by the technicians who perform the work. Anything that arrives overnight is answered first thing in the morning.
The estimate is a number you can compare. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is owed until you accept it, and you are free to take the number elsewhere.
The rooms and surfaces you listed, the method suited to each fiber, the price and the expected drying time. It covers the property described and it does not change at the door.
What to send
Four things that make the price accurate.
None of them is required. Each one narrows the range, and together they usually make the written price the final price.
The single most useful thing you can attach. A photograph of the worst patch, taken in daylight, tells us the fiber, the traffic pattern and whether a mark sits on the surface or has reached the padding. Up to five photographs, 8 MB each.
For carpet, the rooms and roughly how large they are. For upholstery, the pieces themselves: a three seat sofa, two armchairs, six dining chairs. For rugs, the size and the fiber if you know it.
Stairs are priced by the flight, so tell us how many flights there are and whether they are carpeted end to end or have a runner over wood. Treads, risers and edges are cleaned by hand.
Tell us whether there are pets and whether there have been accidents. Urine that reached the padding needs the padding treated as well as the surface, and that changes both the method and the time on site.
Drying
How long each surface takes to dry.
The estimate carries the drying time for what you booked. These are the usual figures in a heated home with normal ventilation.

Frequently asked questions
Question 1: How is the price worked out?
By what is on the floor: the surfaces, how much of each there is, the fiber and the condition. We do not publish a price list, because a hallway with three pet stains and a hallway with none are two different jobs. The written estimate covers the property you described and does not change at the door.
Question 2: Will you tell me if a stain will not come out?
Yes, and before the work begins rather than after. Bleach marks and urine that has permanently changed the dye cannot be reversed by cleaning, and a stain that has soaked into the padding can wick back up as the carpet dries. We say which of those we are looking at as soon as we see the photograph or the floor.
Question 3: Does the estimate cost anything?
No. The written estimate is free and it commits you to nothing. Nothing is owed until you have accepted the price and the work is finished, and comparing it with other companies first is expected.
