Carpet cleaning in Edison, NJ

Edison is the largest municipality in Middlesex County and the busiest part of our round here: 107,588 residents across 30.06 square miles, in housing that ranges from 1920s bungalows in Stelton to condominium blocks off Route 27. Nearly every kind of job we do turns up somewhere in this township — wall-to-wall carpet and stairs, sectional sofas, wool and silk rugs in the Oak Tree Road neighbourhoods, mattresses, and tile and grout. All of it is cleaned in the property; there is nothing to drop off anywhere.

The township was incorporated in 1870 as Raritan Township and only became Edison on 10 November 1954, named for the man who had worked here. Thomas Edison set up his laboratory in the Menlo Park section in 1876 and invented the phonograph and developed a commercially viable incandescent lamp there, which is a genuinely unusual thing for a suburb to have in its founding story. What that history left behind is a township with no single centre: Menlo Park, Clara Barton, Stelton, Nixon, Bonhamtown, Piscatawaytown and New Dover each grew separately and each has different housing. Thirty square miles and ten neighbouring municipalities mean the drive between two Edison jobs can be longer than the drive into the township, so appointments here are planned by section rather than by postcode.

Rugs on Oak Tree Road

The neighbourhoods either side of Oak Tree Road hold more hand-knotted and silk-highlighted rugs than anywhere else in the county. Every piece is identified by fibre and construction and dye-tested out of sight before cleaning. Silk and viscose are told apart before, not after — viscose sold as art silk turns yellow and stiff if it is cleaned as though it were wool.

Seven sections, one township

Stelton bungalows, Menlo Park post-war ranches, Clara Barton two-families and the newer blocks off Route 27 are four different cleaning problems in one municipality. We ask which section you are in when you book, because it changes the equipment that comes off the van as much as it changes the route.

The visit

How a visit works in Edison

  1. 01

You tell us what is on the floor

Call, or send a photograph of the worst patch. It is the fastest way to a straight answer about what will lift and what will not — and if something is not coming out, we would rather say so now than at the door.

  2. 02

    We test before we clean

Fabric and rug dyes get tested somewhere nobody looks, and the fiber decides the method. This is the step that prevents the two things people actually fear: shrinkage and color bleeding.

  3. 03

Extraction, then the parts a machine cannot reach

Heated solution goes into the pile and comes straight back out with the soil. Stairs, edges and corners are worked by hand afterwards, because no machine head sits flat on a stair tread.

Where in Edison

Bonhamtown, Clara Barton, Menlo Park, New Dover, Nixon, Piscatawaytown and Stelton are Edison's own recorded sections and the names residents actually use. They are published here as township geography; no search-demand measurement has been carried out for Edison, so no figure sits behind this list and none is claimed.

Questions

Asked in Edison

Which parts of Edison do you cover?

All of it — Menlo Park, Clara Barton, Stelton, Nixon, Bonhamtown, Piscatawaytown, New Dover and everything between. It is thirty square miles, so telling us your section when you call helps us give you a tighter arrival window.

Can you clean a silk or hand-knotted rug in the house?

Often yes, and when a piece genuinely needs off-site washing we say so before we start. Fibre identification comes first because viscose is frequently sold as silk and will not survive being cleaned like wool, and a dye test in a hidden corner comes before any moisture.

Do you clean tile and grout as well as carpet?

Yes, on the same visit. Grout is porous and holds soil below the surface of the tile, so it is cleaned with pressure and heat rather than scrubbed, and we can seal it afterwards if you want the next few years to be easier.

How soon can you get here?

Edison is on the round most days, so it is usually one of the quicker bookings in the county. Say when you call whether the job is a whole house or a single room and we will tell you the honest first available slot rather than an optimistic one.

Jacob was the best. We had a pet accident that he took care of. He was quickly able to clean an area rug and honestly saved the day. Great work, will call again.

We used Carpet Cleaning Wizards to remove dog urine from a large area carpet. Jacob was timely in arrival, professional and friendly. He was efficient in taking care of the job and very pleasant while doing it. Would recommend this business.
