Raritan is a borough in Somerset County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1868, with 7,835 residents at the 2020 census. In the western division of the Raritan Valley region. Nevius Street Bridge and John Frelinghuysen House, now the Raritan Public Library are here. The Raritan Woolen Mills, started in 1846, employed up to 400 people and made uniforms and blankets for the Union Army and later the US Army. On 2 July 1921 President Harding signed the Knox-Porter Resolution at the Frelinghuysen estate, ending US involvement in World War I; Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone was from the borough. It borders Bridgewater Township, Hillsborough Township, Somerville.
