Carved out of Kearny in 1895 and still one of the smallest municipalities in New Jersey, with roughly 2.7 miles of roadway in total. Its population peaked at 3,163 in 1910 and it ranks 6th of 565 New Jersey municipalities for density. It borders Kearny, Harrison, Newark.
