North Arlington is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1896, with 16,457 residents at the 2020 census. Holy Cross Cemetery and Riverside County Park are here. Holy Cross Cemetery, opened in 1915, holds close to 290,000 interments, so the borough has roughly twenty times more buried dead than living residents. In 1755 the first steam engine in North America was assembled here to pump water out of the Schuyler Copper Mine, one of the continent's first true copper mines; the name comes from the borough sitting north of the Arlington section of Kearny. It borders Lyndhurst, Belleville, Kearny.
