About our service in Butler

Butler is part of our Morris County service area, and our technicians cover the whole municipality.

8,047 residents across 2.03 square miles, which in practice means a mix of housing rather than one kind, so the useful question when you call is what is on your floor, not what the town is like. Everything is done on site, including the rugs and the floor underneath them, and we book around the clock.

Butler is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1901, with 8,047 residents at the 2020 census. Butler Museum, housed in the former New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad station is here. Locally it is read by its sections, Butler Heights, and a job is quoted on the one you are in rather than on the town line. Renamed in 1881 after Richard Butler, owner of the rubber company that became the American Hard Rubber Company in 1898; the borough borders both Morris and Passaic counties. A 1957 fire destroyed the Pequanoc Rubber Company plant, with damage estimated as high as $3 million. It borders Kinnelon, Riverdale, Bloomingdale (Passaic County), West Milford (Passaic County).

The housing in Butler

Streets and housing were laid out to accommodate factory workers as the Newbrough/American Hard Rubber Company plant expanded in the late 19th century. The Hard Rubber Company built worker houses on Gifford Street, sold for $350 ($500 for corner houses). Older stock brings staircases built before any machine made for them existed, so those treads are worked by hand either way.

Water damage in Butler

Pequannock River provided the water power that drew manufacturing to the area. Below-grade carpet is the surface most at risk in a wet year, because the pad holds water long after the face has dried.

Questions

Questions from Butler customers

Question 1: Do you cover Butler?

Yes, it is one of the 39 municipalities we cover in Morris County. We are a service-area business, so the only thing that changes between towns is the drive.

Question 2: What happens on the day in Butler?

The fibre is identified, the floor is vacuumed dry, the traffic lanes and the spots are pre-treated and given time to work, then everything is cleaned and rinsed under extraction. Nothing is left sitting in the pile to pull soil back.

Question 3: Does the age of the houses in Butler change anything?

It changes the method. Streets and housing were laid out to accommodate factory workers as the Newbrough/American Hard Rubber Company plant expanded in the late 19th century, and a stock of that kind decides whether a floor wants controlled moisture and a dye test or a straightforward hot-water extraction. We identify the fibre before anything gets wet, every time.

Question 4: The carpet in a Butler basement got wet. Do we clean it or pull it out?

The carpet is often saveable and the padding usually is not, because a pad holds water long after the face of a carpet has dried. A lower level is cooler and damper than the floors above it as well, so air movers are standard down there rather than optional, and we keep reading the materials until they are dry.

Jacob was the best. We had a pet accident that he took care of. He was quickly able to clean an area rug and honestly saved the day. Great work, will call again.
