Leonia is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1894, with 9,304 residents at the 2020 census. Overpeck County Park and Field Station: Dinosaurs are here. Originally called West Fort Lee, the community was renamed Leonia in 1865 after Revolutionary War General Charles Lee, and was set off from Ridgefield Township in the 1894 "boroughitis" wave. Its early-20th-century concentration of artists, academics and Nobel laureates earned it the nickname the "Athens of New Jersey". It borders Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, Teaneck.

Colonial-era dwellings survive, including the Cole-Allaire House of about 1765, the borough's oldest, and the 1786 Vreeland House. Housing developed and marketed from 1899 by Artemus Ward's Leonia Heights Land Company, which drew academics and artists.
