Created in 1913 from part of Union Township, on land also carved from Newark and Elizabeth, and built on three farms whose names survive in the streets. Lionel Trains manufactured here from 1929 to 1974, employing up to 2,000 people. It borders Irvington, Newark, Elizabeth, Union.
