Garwood is a borough in Union County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1903, with 4,454 residents at the 2020 census. Garwood station on the Raritan Valley Line and Aeolian Company building are here. At 0.65 square miles it is one of Union County's smallest municipalities; it broke away from Cranford and Westfield in 1903 over roads, fire protection, policing and schools. The Aeolian Company, once the world's largest musical-instrument maker, was based here. It borders Cranford, Westfield.
