Fanwood station on the Raritan Valley Line and Fanwood Park Historic District are here. Split off from Fanwood Township, now Scotch Plains, in 1895 and named for the author Fannie Wood. The borough grew around the railroad station rebuilt in 1874. It borders Plainfield, Scotch Plains.
