Carpet cleaning in Winfield, NJ

In Winfield we clean carpet and stairs, sofas and armchairs, area rugs, mattresses, and tile and grout. With 1,423 residents on 0.18 square miles, this is a small township — most of what we do here comes by word of mouth from the street the last job was on. Built 1941 as the Winfield Park Mutual Ownership Defense Housing Project. 254 buildings on 110 acres, about 700 units, architect John T. Rowland. Nothing is taken away to be cleaned. The work happens in the property, by appointment, at any hour of the day.

Winfield is a township in Union County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1941, with 1,423 residents at the 2020 census. Built 1941 as the Winfield Park Mutual Ownership Defense Housing Project. 254 buildings on 110 acres, about 700 units, architect John T. Rowland. The Rahway River borders the township on three sides. Rahway River Park surrounds the housing project. Winfield School, serving elementary through 8th grade and Rahway River Park are here. Created on July 28, 1941 under the Lanham Act to house Kearny Shipyard workers, the last of eight federal mutual-ownership defense projects. The residents' corporation bought it from the federal government in 1950 and paid off the mortgage in 1984. It borders Linden, Clark.

The housing in Winfield

Built 1941 as the Winfield Park Mutual Ownership Defense Housing Project. 254 buildings on 110 acres, about 700 units, architect John T. Rowland. Older stock brings staircases built before any machine made for them existed, so those treads are worked by hand either way.

Water, and what it does to a floor here

The Rahway River borders the township on three sides. Rahway River Park surrounds the housing project. Below-grade carpet is the surface most at risk in a wet year, because the pad holds water long after the face has dried.

The work

Photographed on the job. Nothing on this site is stock.

A flight of carpeted stairs after cleaning, oatmeal and blue-grey banding running up the treads
A flight of stairs, finished. Three faces per step, none of which a machine head sits flat on — stairs are the slowest surface in any job and they are done by hand.

The visit

How a visit works in Winfield

  1. 01

You tell us what is on the floor

Call, or send a photograph of the worst patch. It is the fastest way to a straight answer about what will lift and what will not — and if something is not coming out, we would rather say so now than at the door.

  2. 02

    We test before we clean

Fabric and rug dyes get tested somewhere nobody looks, and the fiber decides the method. This is the step that prevents the two things people actually fear: shrinkage and color bleeding.

  3. 03

Extraction, then the parts a machine cannot reach

Heated solution goes into the pile and comes straight back out with the soil. Stairs, edges and corners are worked by hand afterwards, because no machine head sits flat on a stair tread.

Where in Winfield

Winfield has no named districts that anyone searches for separately, which is ordinary for a municipality of its size. Rather than invent a list to fill the space, this page says plainly that the whole township is covered — and it is.

Questions

Asked in Winfield

Do you cover Winfield?

Yes. A township of 1,423 is a normal stop rather than a special trip, and we take bookings at any hour of the day for it.

How long before we can walk on the carpet?

About two hours before carpet is walkable, and dry the same day. A fabric sofa takes four to eight hours; leather is quicker. Say when the room has to be back in use and we sequence the job around that rather than hoping.

Does the age of the houses in Winfield change anything?

It changes the method. Built 1941 as the Winfield Park Mutual Ownership Defense Housing Project — and a stock of that kind decides whether a floor wants controlled moisture and a dye test or a straightforward hot-water extraction. We identify the fibre before anything gets wet, every time.

Our basement took water. Is the carpet worth saving?

Sometimes, and what decides it is how long it sat and what was in the water rather than how bad it looks. The Rahway River borders the township on three sides — so this is a question we get here. We read the pad and subfloor with a meter and say which case you are in before starting.

Jacob was the best. We had a pet accident that he took care of. He was quickly able to clean an area rug and honestly saved the day. Great work, will call again.

There was a big difference in the living room rugs. Extraction brought out layers of dirt. Nearly invisible stains remain. Completely happy.

We used Carpet Cleaning Wizards to remove dog urine from a large area carpet. Jacob was timely in arrival, professional and friendly. He was efficient in taking care of the job and very pleasant while doing it. Would recommend this business.
