Mahwah is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1849, with 25,487 residents at the 2020 census. Ford's Mahwah Assembly plant, the largest motor vehicle assembly plant in the United States when completed, built six million cars between 1955 and its closure in 1980, an event referenced in the opening line of Bruce Springsteen's "Johnny 99"; the local sports teams are still called the Thunderbirds after it. It borders Allendale, Franklin Lakes, Oakland, Ramsey, Upper Saddle River.
