Carpet cleaning in Demarest, NJ

Carpet, sofas, area rugs, mattresses and tile floors in Demarest — and everywhere else in Bergen County. 4,981 residents across 2.07 square miles, which in practice means a mix of housing rather than one kind — so the useful question when you call is what is actually on your floor, not what the town is like. 1,680 housing units at the 2020 census, 4.9% of them vacant. Housing stock nearly static over two decades: 1,634 units in 2000, 1,659 in 2010, 1,680 in 2020. No shop, no drop-off, no address to visit — just an appointment, taken at whatever hour suits.

Formed in 1903 from portions of Harrington Township and Palisades Township. The name comes from the Demarest family and from the Demarest train station, itself named for Ralph S. Demarest, a director of the Northern Railroad of New Jersey who served in both houses of the state legislature; the borough bought the station site in 1978 and restored it. It borders Alpine, Closter, Cresskill, Dumont, Haworth.

The housing in Demarest

1,680 housing units at the 2020 census, 4.9% of them vacant. Housing stock nearly static over two decades: 1,634 units in 2000, 1,659 in 2010, 1,680 in 2020. What that changes is the fibre and the access — which is why the first question on the phone is about the property rather than about the price.

Water, and what it does to a floor here

2.08 square miles of total area, almost entirely land (0.34% water). The Duck Pond, a widening of the Tenakill Brook, sits at the centre of the borough. We read moisture in the pad and the subfloor with a meter rather than trusting how the surface feels, and say which case you are in before starting.

The work

Photographed on the job. Nothing on this site is stock.

A flight of carpeted stairs after cleaning, oatmeal and blue-grey banding running up the treads
A flight of stairs, finished. Three faces per step, none of which a machine head sits flat on — stairs are the slowest surface in any job and they are done by hand.

The visit

How a visit works in Demarest

  1. 01

You tell us what is on the floor

Call, or send a photograph of the worst patch. It is the fastest way to a straight answer about what will lift and what will not — and if something is not coming out, we would rather say so now than at the door.

  2. 02

    We test before we clean

Fabric and rug dyes get tested somewhere nobody looks, and the fiber decides the method. This is the step that prevents the two things people actually fear: shrinkage and color bleeding.

  3. 03

Extraction, then the parts a machine cannot reach

Heated solution goes into the pile and comes straight back out with the soil. Stairs, edges and corners are worked by hand afterwards, because no machine head sits flat on a stair tread.

Where in Demarest

Demarest has no named districts that anyone searches for separately, which is ordinary for a municipality of its size. Rather than invent a list to fill the space, this page says plainly that the whole borough is covered — and it is.

Questions

Asked in Demarest

Do you cover Demarest?

Yes. A borough of 4,981 is a normal stop rather than a special trip, and we take bookings at any hour of the day for it.

How long before we can walk on the carpet?

About two hours before carpet is walkable, and dry the same day. A fabric sofa takes four to eight hours; leather is quicker. Say when the room has to be back in use and we sequence the job around that rather than hoping.

Does the age of the houses in Demarest change anything?

It changes the method. 1,680 housing units at the 2020 census, 4.9% of them vacant — and a stock of that kind decides whether a floor wants controlled moisture and a dye test or a straightforward hot-water extraction. We identify the fibre before anything gets wet, every time.

Our basement took water. Is the carpet worth saving?

Sometimes, and what decides it is how long it sat and what was in the water rather than how bad it looks. 2.08 square miles of total area, almost entirely land (0.34% water) — so this is a question we get here. We read the pad and subfloor with a meter and say which case you are in before starting.

Jacob was the best. We had a pet accident that he took care of. He was quickly able to clean an area rug and honestly saved the day. Great work, will call again.

There was a big difference in the living room rugs. Extraction brought out layers of dirt. Nearly invisible stains remain. Completely happy.
