Emerson is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1903, with 7,290 residents at the 2020 census. Southernmost municipality of the Pascack Valley. Soldier Hill Golf Club, opened 1963, spanning Emerson and Oradell and Pascack Valley Shopping Center on Kinderkamack Road are here. Locally it is read by its sections, Old Hook, and a job is quoted on the one you are in rather than on the town line. Formed on April 8, 1903 from portions of Washington Township as the Borough of Etna, taking the name of a local railroad station, and renamed Emerson on March 9, 1909 after the author Ralph Waldo Emerson. The borough calls itself "The Family Town", and Washington Park marks a spot where General Washington camped before crossing the Delaware. It borders Closter, Harrington Park, Haworth, Oradell, Paramus.
